In our blog titled “How to Identify Doors by Model Number, Serial Number, and PID Numbers” we showed how to identify Clopay garage doors. However, even with our helpful tips, we realize that the labels can be challenging to understand.

Attached are links to PDFs to further help you identify your Clopay garage door.

Usually, the first two digits of a serial number denote the factory that made it. For example, 01 denotes the Clopay plant in the town of Russia, Ohio. The model number is six digits long. It is either in the middle or at the end of the serial number, depending on the year the door was produced.

For Clopay doors built after 2004, the first six digits of the PID are the model number.

    Hi. My PID 00043000109000700.

I’m trying to find the weight of the door to replace the springs.

    Thanks in advance.

    Hello Dave,

Based on your PID number, it looks like you have a 4300 Clopay garage door. The PID number doesn’t tell me if you have any windows or struts, so I’m not sure the exact weight of your door.
For that you can give Clopay customer service a call or use our door calculator to determine what springs you need for your door (https://ddmgaragedoors.com/springs/standard-torsion-springs.php#findMySpring). If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out at (800) 383-9548.
