In our blog titled “How to Identify Doors by Model Number, Serial Number, and PID Numbers” we showed how to identify Clopay garage doors. However, even with our helpful tips, we realize that the labels can be challenging to understand.
Attached are links to PDFs to further help you identify your Clopay garage door.
Usually, the first two digits of a serial number denote the factory that made it. For example, 01 denotes the Clopay plant in the town of Russia, Ohio. The model number is six digits long. It is either in the middle or at the end of the serial number, depending on the year the door was produced.
For Clopay doors built after 2004, the first six digits of the PID are the model number.
As always, if we can ever help you find what you need please contact us.

This is a single car garage door that is alluminium.

Hi. My PID 00043000109000700.
I’m trying to find the weight of the door to replace the springs.
Thanks in advance.

Hello Dave,
Based on your PID number, it looks like you have a 4300 Clopay garage door. The PID number doesn’t tell me if you have any windows or struts, so I’m not sure the exact weight of your door.
For that you can give Clopay customer service a call or use our door calculator to determine what springs you need for your door (https://ddmgaragedoors.com/springs/standard-torsion-springs.php#findMySpring). If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out at (800) 383-9548.

I have a Clopay door installed with serial number: 061495000737365. It would seem it is an old door from 1995 then. Is there anyway to determine if the door has any hurricane protection? based on the PDF it would be model number 00073

Christina, thank you for that question. For doors manufactured prior to 2004, there wouldn’t be any information included regarding the windload rating of the door.
I’m not finding a Clopay door model 0073. For your door, I would recommend reaching out to Clopay with that information to see if they would be able to provide more specific information.

We would recommend contacting Clopay directly. They should be able to confirm the model number and provide a door weight.
