Have you ordered or considered ordering garage door springs from DDM, but want to spend less time in a hot garage doing repairs this summer?
Not to worry.
A few tips in the right direction can go a long way in facilitating your do-it-yourself repair job.
- Read and re-read our site’s instructions for the repair at hand. Safety first, then work!
- Clear the area and ensure adequate ventilation. An organized environment contributes to an organized mind, which makes for an organized and efficient repair. In order to do a well-thought-out job, you would need a clean perception of the work area on your side.
- Get all the replacement parts you need inside the garage before beginning. Set up a sawhorse in a well-lit garage. Look at your tool supply, and bring what you will need. DDM also sells tools for garage door repair. Don’t forget, lubricant!
- Lay out the appropriate parts in the right number, in areas close to where they will be required for mounting. For a standard torsion spring replacement, right wind spring on the left side, and left wind spring on the right side, for example. Parcel out an adequate number of fasteners next to the items they will be fastening.
- Work in a logical fashion, bringing tools in a tool belt, and parts appropriate for each step.
We wish you a safe and enjoyable summer of 2011!
