Amarr created a unique, pinch-proof design for their doors.
The basic principle behind pinch-proof hinges is to prevent people from trying to close the door manually by sticking their fingers between the sections of the door. Smashed fingers have led to numerous lawsuits. As a result, various manufacturers like Clopay and Amarr have designed systems to prevent people from closing the door by sticking their fingers between the sections.
The hinges on Amarr pinch-proof doors are unique in that the hinging action is on the side of the door, rather than the inside surface of the door.
The hinge has two parts: an upper part and a lower part. The upper part fastens to the inside surface of the upper door section, in the same way most hinges do. However, it connects to the lower door section from the side using a pin.
The lower part of an Amarr pinch-proof hinge is the roller-carrier. It connects the roller to the door section.
