This job is much safer and easier when done with at least two people.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Start by raising the ladder.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Raise the door about six inches<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach come-alongs on each side of the door, to support the lower sections.\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Attach the hook on the cable side to the track angle.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Then, attach the hooks on the ratcheting side to the hinges of the section above the one you wish to remove.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Securing-the-Come-Along.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"576\" src=\"https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Securing-the-Come-Along-1024x576.png\" alt=\"Attaching a come-along to the hinges of the section above the one you want to remove\" class=\"wp-image-5655\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Securing-the-Come-Along-1024x576.png 1024w, https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Securing-the-Come-Along-300x169.png 300w, https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Securing-the-Come-Along-768x432.png 768w, https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Securing-the-Come-Along-1536x864.png 1536w, https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2023\/01\/Securing-the-Come-Along.png 1920w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Secure a vise grip to each cable, in order to prevent them from detaching from the bottom fixture.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Attach a third vise grip to the track, to prevent the section from falling towards you.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-removing-the-section\">Removing the Section<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ol class=\"wp-block-list\" start=\"6\">\n<li>Using a 7\/16&#8243; socket and power drill, remove the screws attaching the section to the upper hinges. Leave the lower hinges for now.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Climb the ladder. This is one place where it can be helpful to have two pairs of hands.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Reinstall the bolts attaching the section to the bottom hinges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Once the bottom of the section is secure, climb back up the ladder. Once the sections are aligned, use the power drill to reattach the top hinges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally, release the ratcheting mechanism of the come-alongs, and remove the come-alongs.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n\n\n\n<p>We hope this has been helpful!
