This is especially true when the torsion springs are for heavier garage doors.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On a standard two spring system, both torsion springs normally mount back to back to the spring anchor bracket off-centered above the door.<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2-spring-torsion-system.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"300\" height=\"196\" src=\"https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2016\/05\/2-spring-torsion-system-300x196.jpg\" alt=\"Torsion springs mounted back to back to the spring anchor bracket above the garage door.\" class=\"wp-image-1529\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>Sometimes each torsion spring weighs over 20 pounds. In these cases, we recommend adding a bracket just beyond the end of the winding cone to support the weight. (The formula for locating the bracket before <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/pxJfHdSjbIo\">winding the spring<\/a> is spring wire times the number of turns plus four inches.)<\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2016\/05\/shaft-support.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"260\" height=\"124\" src=\"https:\/\/ddmgaragedoors.com\/blog\/uploads\/2016\/05\/shaft-support.jpg\" alt=\"An image of a torsion spring with shaft support.\" class=\"wp-image-1530\"\/><\/a><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>There is a need for an extra support bracket beyond the end of each torsion spring. Therefore, we can easily use those brackets as spring anchor brackets for additional springs in a four spring setup. All that&#8217;s needed are extra 3\/8&#8243; by 1&#8243; bolts and nuts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An inquiry came in from Jordan regarding a 19&#8242; wide by 7&#8242; high door. The door had a coupler in the middle of the shaft.
